Hospital philanthropy foundation in Lausanne, Switzerland. A two-person team raising funds for one of Switzerland's leading university hospitals, the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV).

The Challenge

Two platforms, no connection

The CHUV Foundation raises funds for one of Switzerland's leading university hospitals.

The team consists of two people, Michèle Joanisse, the Foundation Director and Magali Deepen, Head of External Relations.

Their CRM is Blackbaud Raiser's Edge. Their online donation platform is RaiseNow — the only major option in Switzerland that supports Twint. Both were the right choice for the job, but no integration existed between them.

Every online donation had to be typed into Raiser's Edge NXT by hand. Field by field, record by record, time that would otherwise go to donor conversations and follow-up.

The Solution

We built the connection

We built a direct integration between RaiseNow and Raiser's Edge for the CHUV fundraising team.

Once live, every online donation landed in the CRM automatically, donor matched, gift recorded, data clean. Michèle and Magali got their time back.

Before: Every gift re-entered by hand, field by field. Both team members pulled into data entry. Capacity capped at what two people could type. Donor follow-up delayed by backlog.

After: Donations flow into the CRM instantly. Team focused entirely on donor relationships. No volume ceiling. Every record complete from the moment a gift is made.

The Results

Then an entire country started giving

In a normal year, about 300 donations come through.

Weeks after the integration went live, a devastating fire in Switzerland killed 40 people and left over a hundred severely burned. CHUV was one of the primary treatment centres. Donations came in from across the country — thousands of people giving, most of them for the first time.

A normal year is around 300. Ten times that arrived in one month. Every gift processed automatically. Every donor record complete and ready in Raiser's Edge.

Without the integration, those donors would have sat in a backlog for weeks or months, records incomplete, follow-up stalled, and no clean data to build stewardship on.

Instead, the payment-to-CRM workflow was fully automated, saving the team hours of manual entry so they could focus on engaging with their new donor base. Their accounting team also had significantly less reconciling to do since donation and invoice reporting was now automated.

I'm just doing the happy dance every day. We set up this integration so that the platform where we received our donations is connected to our CRM, because if we hadn't, we would have had to manually enter every single one. I mean, seriously.
