About

Casa Di Luce

Casa Di Luce is a family-owned business with 25 years of experience in modern and contemporary lighting for design-driven consumers. Working with industry-leading brands and European vendors, they serve customers across North America through their Toronto showroom and online via Shopify.

The Challenge

Shipping lived in four places: a spreadsheet, a portal, Shopify, and paper

After Clouver digitized Casa Di Luce’s invoicing, one big workflow still lived outside the system: shipping. Tracking a shipment meant touching four disconnected tools: a manually updated Google Sheet for warehouse locations, the ClickShip portal for booking shipments, Shopify for the orders themselves, and a paper trail where tracking numbers and shipping prices were copied by hand onto packing slips.

The fragmentation showed up everywhere. The warehouse team flipped between paper, spreadsheets, and portals on every intake. Tracking numbers for online orders were transcribed by hand. Direct shipments (items the manufacturer ships straight to the customer) never closed out in Shopify, leaving orders sitting open for months until someone cleaned them up manually. And the sales team couldn’t see where anything was, so “where is this item?” always meant a walk to the warehouse.

The Solution

One dashboard for every order, shipment, and shelf location

Clouver extended Casa Di Luce’s existing Retool system into a full orders-and-shipping workspace, using the cleanest data path for each order type instead of forcing everything through one integration.

  • Unified orders dashboard: every order, in-store and online, in one view, with per-item shelf location, position, box counts, PO numbers, and pickup/shipped status. Multi-shipment support handles real warehouse life, where boxes arrive across a week and ship together

  • Shipment booking inside Retool: for in-store orders, the warehouse team books ClickShip shipments without leaving the app. Auto-filled addresses, saved shipper presets, smart defaults for ship dates and insurance, live carrier rates via the Freightcom API, and one-click booking that returns the label and saves tracking and price straight to the order

  • Automatic fulfillment sync: online orders shipped through ClickShip’s Shopify integration sync back automatically. Per-item fulfillment state, tracking numbers, carrier, and dates appear on the dashboard with no manual copying

  • Direct shipments finally close: for manufacturer-shipped items, a “Mark as Fulfilled” flow calls the Shopify Admin API to fulfill the exact line items, so orders complete automatically instead of sitting open for months

  • Slack notifications to sales: when the warehouse logs an item’s shelf and position, the sales team gets a Slack message with the order, item, and location. No more walking to the warehouse to ask

  • Role-based permissions: warehouse staff get full edit access; the sales team sees everything and can mark customer pickups, with shipping fields protected

The Results

Four systems became one, and everyone can finally see the warehouse

Casa Di Luce’s shipment workflow now runs through a single Retool dashboard instead of a spreadsheet, a portal, Shopify, and paper. Tracking numbers and shipping prices save to the order automatically the moment a shipment is booked; nothing is copied by hand.

  • One workflow instead of four systems: intake, booking, tracking, and fulfillment in one place

  • No more paper tracking numbers: booking a shipment saves tracking and price to the order automatically

  • Direct shipments close cleanly, with no more orders sitting open in Shopify for months

  • Sales sees location instantly: inline shelf and position data plus Slack notifications replace walks to the warehouse

  • Consistent warehouse data: structured statuses and locations replace a free-form spreadsheet with five competing status values

The Conclusion

This is what the first project made possible: because Casa Di Luce’s invoicing already ran on Retool and Shopify, extending it into shipping was an evolution, not another system. One partner, one workspace, and a workflow the whole team actually uses.
